Case Study: A Complete Technology Upgrade for The Creative Arts Center of Bonham
The Creative Arts Center of Bonham is a hub for art classes, gallery exhibits, and community events in Fannin County. But behind the galleries and classrooms, the technology keeping the center running had aged well past its prime, and the systems staff relied on every day had become harder to manage and maintain.
Universal ComOne (UC1) recently completed a top-to-bottom technology infrastructure upgrade for the center, replacing outdated equipment and consolidating multiple systems into one organized, reliable environment.
Starting With the Foundation
Every reliable technology environment starts with what’s in the walls. UC1 installed new structured cabling throughout the facility and built a new Main Distribution Frame (MDF) — a clean, organized central point that every other system connects back to. From there, we upgraded the network itself with a new router, managed switches, wireless access points, and battery backup systems, so a brief power interruption doesn’t take the Center offline.
Security and Peace of Mind
To improve security and visibility across the property, UC1 installed a fourteen-camera IP surveillance system with cloud-based recording and remote viewing — staff can check on the facility from anywhere. We also added an access control system to provide secure entry management for designated areas of the building.
Communications and Atmosphere
The Center’s phones were upgraded to a hosted VoIP system, providing improved flexibility and support. And because atmosphere matters in a place built around the arts, UC1 deployed a three-zone SONOS audio system, letting staff manage music throughout the galleries and out to the outdoor gathering areas.
